This sculpture was created for a group show in LA in Winter of 2022. It was shown at the Realm Gallery in Chinatown for several months. This piece took several months to create with hundreds of textured dots. Orchids have been one of my favorite type of flowers growing up and symbolizes so much more than can be said in words.
“An orchid is one of the most coveted flowers in the world. It is exotic, mysterious, and holds the secret to the beauty of divine design. Known to be the guardian of the rainforest, these flowers welcome us to move inwards and walk forward into the unknown.
Orchids have been a major part of my life in many ways than just a delicate perfect flower. It was ever present in my adventurous childhood in the Philippines and continues to be part of my life after migrating to the United States. For me, the orchid is a symbol of moving into this unknown thing called life, staying open and whole to receive its mysteries. It is always a piece of home wherever this journey may take me.”
